Chào bạn

Apparently this blogging business is the way of the future, according to Langer anyway. Since I'm certain you're all on the edge of your seats wondering what in the name of Mary Harney am I doing in Vietnam, I've decided I shall keep you all up to scratch.

Arrived here a week ago today, firstly to the sight of a Galway man by the name of Owen Kelly standing in arrivals. It's an amazing thing that no matter where you go in the world there will always be a thick looking Irish man there to greet you with the proverbial "Well Ted, what's the craic?". Lashed the suitcases, that I oh so carefully packed, into the back of a taxi and headed for his apartment. I honestly can't put into words what the roads are like here, the best I can come up with is : It's fucking mental. So this picture might give you a better idea.

Had a few welcome beers and then headed off to a Thai restaurant which was amazing. For about $6 you can eat and drink yourself into a coma. After that we did what any normal Irish person does in a foreign country, told the local bars to go piss up a rope and we headed for a stereotypical Irish bar with an illuminated Shamrock and a Guinness sign out the front. Ahh home sweet home, sort of. Not long after that I hit a brick wall, Jet fecking lag. 60 hours without a wink of sleep, 4 countries and an endless number of rum and cokes later I was bollixed. Off to bed it was.

The next day we went for a liquid lunch. $5 dollars all you can drink and Danny was in heaven. After giving the liver a good aul hammering we had a birthday party to go to. Bak (spelling?) is the girlfriend of one of the Jamaican pilots down here and she invited us to dinner with all her family and friends. Once again the food was amazing! One thing we did notice was that our table was the only table drinking alcohol. All the locals were drinking water whereas we were drinking tiger beer like it was going out of fashion. After dinner it was onto "Apocalypse" a club in the centre of town. A few bottles of Vodka and the rest of that night got very blurry! At some point of the night we were drinking tequila with some bajillionaires at the rooftop bar of the Sheraton Saigon. Very cool.

After a few days of colossal inebriation I had an interview with Jetstar Pacific Airlines which went quite well, I passed the first stage now I have to some psychometric exams and then they're flying me down to Singapore to do some simulator assessments towards the end of the month. Coincidently it's the same week as the formula 1, get in. Providing that all goes well then I have to head back north to Hanoi to do a medical and some exams. In the meantime I've got about 2 weeks off so I'm going to visit Langer in Bangkok on Saturday and then I'm going to, Loike sooooo head down to Rachel next week in Krabi, roysh.

Overall, this country is bloody fantastic. Friendly people, cheap booze (YES!!!) incredible food and the weather is a few degrees warmer than Ireland. Happy days. I miss home, I miss family and friends, I miss Barcelona, I miss flying. Although in about an hour we're going out for another liquid lunch so I'll soon get over it!

Stay sexy you amazing shower of bastards.
